BRAIN - How to make good decisions in a fast moving environment

Uncategorized Dec 15, 2020

Sometimes things can change quite quickly during birth.  When this happens you might be asked to make decisions about what to do next.  If you're not the expert in something it's a good idea to explore any unintended consequences so you can make a good decision that works well for you.  The acronym BRAIN helps you to remember the following questions you could ask:

B - What are the benefits of the proposed treatment, intervention or this decision?

R - What are the risks associated with this decision (intended or unintended)

A - Is there an alternative and of so what are the risks and benefits of it

I - What does your intuition and your partners instincts tell you to do?

N - What comes next if we say yes? What happens if we do nothing?
